Logitech to drop out of console business

Logitech have made the decision to stop making console peripherals and accessories such as steering wheels and pedals due to a poor quarter.

In a statement made to GamesIndustry CEO Bracken P. Darrell stated: “We have also identified a number of product categories that no longer fit with our current strategic direction,

“As a result, we have initiated the process to divest our remote controls and digital video security categories, and we plan to discontinue other non-strategic products, such as speaker docks and console gaming peripherals, by the end of Calendar Year 2013.”

Logitech, who plan to focus instead on its widely loved PC and mobile products, saw a drop in sales of 14% Year-on-Year drop.

Currently, Logitech’s console accessories include the F710 Wireless Gamepad and the F540 Wireless Headset but will continue rely on their more famous Keyboard and Mice which have gained critical acclaim from PC Gamers alike.
